Young Irish Ace Stuart Edmonds Debuted TM Racing’s new 250 4t MX Efi machine at the Red Bull Pro Nationals held at the incredible Landrake Moto Park circuit this past weekend.
With heavy rain on Saturday night and the early hours of Sunday morning it was going to be an uphill battle on a very wet and demanding track, qualifying did not go well for Stuart as the track degraded and became increasingly more difficult to pass his competitors, struggling to put in a quick lap in the traffic Stuart fought on and eventually set a time that would disappointingly see him only qualify in twelfth place in the MX2 class.
With the track now seeming to have only one decent line and some very difficult obstacles to overcome race one got underway, as the gate dropped Stuart got the jump on the new 250cc machine and started to ascend the deeply cut-out hill into the first corner, with a constant stream of mud being deposited from the 450cc class machines Stuarts visibility was virtually zero as he entered the first turn. Forcing a gap in the first turn allowed Stuart to make up some valuable placings, unfortunately entering turn two a fallen riders machine, lead on its side burrowing its rear wheel into the soft wet soil, sprayed directly into Stuarts already encrusted goggles damaging them and forcing Stuart to pit at the end of the first lap. With a mountain to climb Stuart battled on but he progress was short as he clipped another fallen riders machine on the fast downhill jump on far side of the circuit and split a rear tyre, a slow ride back to the pits was all that was possible from then on for a dejected Stuart
Race two however was a totally different affair for Stuart and TM Racing’s incredible new machine, another decent jump from a poor gate position put Stuart mid-pack into the first turn. As the race continued Stuart worked the track, finding lines and keeping the little MX2 class machine singing he began to advance pulling past the MX1 machines on the uphill sections. With only a handful of laps remaining of the 25 minute plus one lap race Stuart was running in 16th place overall, sixth in MX2, as rain began to fall once more onto the now drying track, with a circuit that was deeply rutted, rough and now slippery Stuart showed his class and the capabilities of the incredible 250cc 4 stroke TM. As the riders in front started to slow in the conditions and with their lap times falling Stuart and the TM increased their pace and in the dying laps came from 16th to 12th, passing Elliott Banks-Browne in a do or die run from the last corner Stuart finished race two in 11th place, 4th in the highly competitive MX2 class much to the amazement of his competitors and their essentially ‘factory’ equipment.
The next round of the series takes place at Canada Heights in May.
