MX Nationals - Crookwood  (Aug 14, 2017)

The final round of the 2017 MX Nationals series took place this past weekend at the 'new' Crookwood circuit on the outskirts of Devizes, Wiltshire. With this being only a short trip TM UK HQ we were in attendance to support our regular series competitor Troy Willerton, in the MX1 Expert class and 'wildcard', Ryan Butler, in the MX2 Expert class.

The new track looked impressive with a large amount of surface prep being performed in the build up to the event. With some natural elevation changes, a selection of large jumps on various gradients and a good mix of corners the circuit did rough up a little but gave good racing for the duration.

In the MX1 Expert class Troy, on his 300cc 2-stroke machine, looked settled on Saturday and gave two good performances fighting for points in both races to go 6-9. Sunday did not go so well for Troy as he struggled to gel with the now rougher track, however, battling on he managed to end the last two races going 11-12, ending his championship campaign in 10th place.

Ryan Butler on his 125cc 2-stroke, the only one in the 250F filled group, rode his socks off to keep pace on the 4-stroke suited track. After struggling to get the jump from the gate Ryan had the 125 singing to chase the pack, making places early doors but struggling to pass with little line options as he worked up the field. Ryan went 16 - 19 - 12 but sadly withdrew from the last race with a groin strain after having a little 'moment' on track.

Well done all the TM riders and of course a big thank you to all the teams sponsors and supporters. Thank you, TM UK.
