Moato Circus 2016  (Aug 30, 2016)

A large entry of riders combined with a huge number of spectators create an incredible atmosphere at the 2016 Moato Circus event in Doon, despite the dark clouds of tragedy.

The Fastlane promoted, Moato Circus 2016, was the biggest and best yet. Fine weather and a carnival atmosphere made the weekend enjoyable and put the fun factor back into our sport. Held to raise funds for Wayne Garrett (No 33), who was injured some 4 weeks ago, the event was overshadowed by the sad passing of 'Dano' Sheridan, a 13 year old youth rider, following a freak accident last Thursday. With the terrible circumstances overshadowing proceedings the off-road community joined forces and strengthened their bond, the riders came, the spectators came and no-one seemed disappointed. The Long Cross on Saturday provided 3 races of 45/60/45 minutes for adults, along with 30/30 minutes for the youth. Every class was full to bursting with the country’s fastest MX riders pitting themselves against the fastest Enduro riders. The MX won contingent won, with Richard Bird taking the honours. Full results report later.

The “Oval cross “, a tight 15 second lap with 2 obstacles, had the large crowd on their toes for the entire qualification and 'final', and... what an exciting final it was. The spoils finally going to Belfast's Jordan Scott, followed by Cork rider, Aidan MC Donagh. But, only after a stall by Jim O'Neill and a hand stand over the final logs by Stuart Edmonds !. It was anyone’s final to win and congratulations to the four riders for putting on such a good show, It worked superbly.

Stuart made amends on Sunday by scooping both the MX and Supercross wins, the latter again following an intense battle with Jim O'Neill, who ultimately fell whilst leading and looking like the possible winner. Tight stuff again, and what entertainment. Full results will be posted.

The Fastlane club wish to thank anyone involvedm all the riders, helpers, medical teams and particularly those who participated in the tribute to Dano. It was much appreciated by his Family.

Congratulations to all winners and the 'rider of the meeting' ….. Aidan McDonagh.
