Chareyre Dominates First Round of Italian Supermoto Championship  (Mar 30, 2016)

We open the season at the Supermoto track in Viterbo, the 'International', where the TM Team deploys its riders, the confirmed world champion, Thomas Chareyre, and new signing Diego Monticelli.

In qualifying Thomas shows his strength immediately, setting the fastest time on his TM 450Fi SMX and taking the pole position. Diego Monticelli, the new entry to the team, has yet to find his feet and preferred set-up of his new bike. Diego takes part in the European championship, he takes the seventh position in the qualifying.

At the start of the first moto Chareyre is lightning fast, a great start from the pole position allows Thomas to take an early lead. Thomas keeps an incredible pace managing to lap consistently almost a second faster than the strongest of his opponents. An excellent result for Monticelli in his first race who finishes in sixth place in the European.

Race 2 was a photocopy of the first, Thomas Chareyre wins hands down. Thomas pulls clear of his nearest rival by over over 16 seconds. Diego Monticelli has another good race, improving once again and taking a great fourth place.

An excellent 'workout' in preparation for the World Championship opening round next weekend on the street circuit of Jerez de La Frontera.

The race for the 'On-Road' class also witnessed another TM on the track, with a very well known rider from the road racing sport, Max Biaggi, on his TM 450Fi SMX.

Alex Serafini commented on the race: "We are very happy with this race, Thomas has proved again that he has completed a very good winter training schedule and is ready for another season at the top. Diego did well also, for it was his first official race meeting with the bike. We are sure to do well together and aim for great things."
