International MX Series - Alghero  (Feb 2, 2016)

Officially the 2016 season opens on the beautiful track at Alghero in Sardinia, the sandy bottomed circuit and the beautiful backdrop gave us a picturesque day of sport.

TM Racing Factory team comes to this event to witness it as an evaluation of the training completed so far. Samuele Bernardini contests MX2 on his TM 250Fi MX machine, Paolo Lugana and Alessandro Manucci contest the 125 on their TM 125 MX machines, and at this first race of the season, TM Factory Enduro rider, Manuele Monni contest the MX1 class on a TM 300 MX machine.

Samuele Bernardini found himself right at home, the strong Tuscan rider showed great speed setting the second fastest time in training / qualification in MX2.

At the start of the MX2 race Bernardini started strong, he ran with the leaders and kept an incredible pace for several laps. However, a harmless crash took away the chance of a good result, going from one end of the field to the other, Samuele worked hard to come from the rear to end in 14th position.

In the MX1 race Manuele Monni, the Enduro rider now turned MX rider for the day, puts on a good race on the 300cc 2-stroke against the big 450cc 4-stroke machines, he finishes 16th, first 2-stroke in the class.

In the 125 training / qualifying the two TM riders were stunning, Lugana clocked the fastest time with Manucci sixth.
In race 1, Lugana after a good start, fell with some other riders early doors, with an incredible comeback from bottom of the lap chart he ended his first race 9th. With a good pace throughout Manucci remained in the higher positions throughout ending in sixth place. In the second race Lugana staged a great race, a good start and a strong ride, he finishes in third place, Manucci has made some small mistakes during race two, losing time and damaging the bike, he ends in 10th. Paolo Lugana finished fourth place in the standings for the day but for sure he can conquer the podium.

The last race of the day is the 'Elite', where the top of the MX1 and MX2 combine to make a full field. Manuel Monni, after a poor first corner, fought back until the end to finish 18th. Bernardini, found it hard to make ground fighting with not only other MX 2 machines but MX1 machines also, with much 'contact' and 'bar banging' in the middle group of rider he could not make any headway. He ended his race in 20th, 5th in MX2 classification.

Next race in the International next week in Lamezia Terme.

Marco Ricciardi commented on the race: "We are very happy for this first official race, the guys in the 125 showed great speed and Lugana deserved the podium shame about the crash in race 1, Bernardini could aspire to a great result after the excellent lap times in qualifying but still needs to improve and not make mistakes, Manuel was in the final lap times from all over, we continue to work to get to the world in good shape.
