2010 TM Racing Range Breaks Cover  (Mar 21, 2010)

TM UK is pleased to announce to you the 2010 range of competition motorcycles from TM Racing.

Once again the small Italian concern will produce an incredible range of over 30 motorcycles for the disciplines of Motocross, Enduro and Supermotard, featuring both 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines in numerous capacity classes.

TM Racing have pledged their continuance to further develop and manufacture both the 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines and are currently working on many new projects, including emission controlling systems for the 2 stroke range as well as new engines in both 2 stroke and 4 stroke guises, with the combination of Electronic Fuel Injection systems.

The introduction of TM Racing's brand new 250cc 4t Efi engine is the headline story for the 2010 range.
The 'all new' engine which shares little in the way of components with the current engine, bar some fixings and bearings, has been developed over the past two years and is not only dimensionally smaller, lighter and more powerful but will also feature Electronic Fuel Injection, all of which will be packaged into a new aluminium frame specifically designed for the 250cc 4t Efi machine.

The 2010 Tm Racing line-up will include the engine capacities of 85cc, 125cc, 144cc, 250cc and 300cc in 2 stroke machinery and 250cc, 450cc, 530cc and 660cc in 4 stroke machinery. The afforementioned engine options are available in various combinations of model from the ranges of Motocross (MX), Enduro (EN), Supermotard Road (SMR), Supermotard Race (SMX) and Supermotard Mono (SMM) which features a single sided swinging arm, alloy wheels and black bodywork with bespoke decals.

Model changes for the 2010 range of motorcycles from TM Racing.

For 2010 the current range of 2 stroke engines have been subject to a number of changes and improvements to enforce their already well proven track record, their reliability and their class leading performance in TM Racing's 2 stroke powered range of MX and Enduro motorcycles.

Modifications to the 125cc and 144cc 2 stroke engines include:

A revised power-valve mechanism, which features new thrust angles on the centrifugal drive unit and an increase in material density of the component resulting in additional strength as a consequence.

A revised piston is fitted in the 125cc engine featuring a different internal structure surrounding the gudgeon pin married to a new small end bearing, along with the return of the 1mm thick piston ring.

The 144cc engines cylinder head features revisions in combustion chamber shape, squish band profile and compression values.

An updated primary drive gear resulting in increased surface contact between itself and the water pump drive whilst decreasing engine noise.

A new cylinder gasket, still available in 0.1mm increments from 0.2mm to 0.5mm, which has been reshaped to mirror the contours of the hand finished crankcases more accurately.

An update to the fixing of the inlet manifold / V-Force reed block to the crankcases with new gaskets for the transfer between the two components ensuring increased sealing and greater fuel / air flow.

Improvements to fueling have also been made with alterations to carburettor settings and a new needle taper.

Modifications to the 250cc and 300cc engine line-up for 2010 include:

A revised 300cc piston featuring changes in design and structure as well as a new piston ring which is suited to the new clearances in the piston.

Revisions have been made to the cylinder timing on 250cc En models to improve engine power delivery.

A new small end bearing on 250cc models.

New hydraulically activated clutch cylinder featuring a modified internal chamber and in increase in diameter of the hose fixing to maximise fluid movement, aiding consistent operation by reducing fluid temperature.

New friction material on the clutch plates matched to modified steel plates maximising lubrication and extending component life.

Improvements have been made to fueling with a new carburettor base setting and a new needle taper.

.................................

TM Racing have applied some major changes in the 4 stroke range for 2010, the biggest of which is the introduction of the new 250cc 4t Efi engine which will be debuted later this year at the EICMA show and will be available from January 2010. The all new 250 4t engine is exactly as it suggests, all new, it shares little in the way of components with the current 250cc engine and is a totally new design. New crankcases, ancillary casings, gearbox, crankshaft, con-rod and piston assembly, clutch, cylinder and head, valve-train, ignition system and of course Electronic Fuel Injection all feature on TM Racing's new smaller, lighter and more powerful 250cc 4 stroke engine.

The 450cc, 530cc and 660cc engines have also been treated to some modifications for 2010 and feature:

A revised piston wrist pin to aid lubrication of the billet connecting rod on the 450 MX models combined with a more resilient rod coating, increasing performance and extending component life at higher rpm and operating temperatures.

A revised single compression ring and oil control ring set for the 450cc MX model, reducing drag over the conventional multi ring piston set-up increasing performance.

A new friction material on the clutch plates combined with modified steel plates to increase lubrication and extend component life, fitted on all 4 stroke engines.

The camshaft drive chain has a new tensioning guide featuring a larger pivot that is now mounted directly to the crankcases saving weight on all 4 stroke engines.

A new centrifugal engine breathing device mounted to the camshaft and sealed to the breather system, with the component running at half engine speed permanently breathing is controlled throughout the rpm range allowing maximum air transfer whilst ensuring virtually no oil loss occurs through misting and contamination, pick-up, is minimised, even in the event of engine inversion. An ingenious idea especially useful for Enduro models where prolonged running is normal and contamination risks are increased and on Supermotard models, where oil containment is paramount for track safety.

The gearbox features some revised components also, a number of gears are running a revised pitch working at different ratios without an increase in gear diameter, altering component mass and saving weight, combined with updated selector forks working on a new, lighter, machined selector drum on all 450cc, 530cc and 660cc engines.

....................................

TM Racing have also applied a number of changes to the chassis for the 2010 range, both in terms of performance and aesthetics.

New decals in an Italian 'retro' theme featuring full coverage of the radiator / tank panels.

New 'wave' brake discs fitted on all MX and Enduro models, increasing braking efficiency and longevity in harder conditions.

Revised front wheel hub which has been designed to accommodate the new 'wave' brake disc.

Revised fuel tanks with new filler cap.

New footrests on all models featuring a more 'open' design, thus allowing easier release of particles that may become trapped and in addition saving weight.

Revised fork settings on 2 stroke Enduro models.

New aluminium chassis for the new 250cc 4t Efi engine, featuring a different 'cradle' and revisions to the geometry for weight distribution and balance of the new lighter engine.

Revisions to the wiring harness and layout on Enduro models, allowing re-routing of some components reducing cable length and saving weight.

All UK specification machines will come fitted with Marzocchi 50mm fork, Ohlins shock absorber, Billet hubs laced to blue anodised Excel rims, Anodised billet triple clamp featuring damped mounting with adjustable positioning for the oversize Reikon taper handlebar. V-Force reed block on 2 stroke engines, HGS exhaust systems on both 2 stroke and 4 stroke models, Hydraulic clutches, billet con-rods on 4 stroke MX engines and on 125cc / 144cc 2 stroke engines. All enduro machines are fully EU homologated for road use.
