Josh Gotts Wins CTR Events Winter Series Rd2  (Oct 24, 2012)

Josh Gotts and his awesome little TM 125 made the trip from Cornwall to Hay on Wye to dominate CTR Events WSC round 2 on a damp misty October morning in this beautiful Welsh country side and with team CTR been had at work all week designing this awesome 5 mile cross country hare and hounds Enduro race track built from the near flat manor grounds the start line set in the front garden with the breath taking view of the 1820's hall in the back drop then with some twist and turn's up and down some step banks to climb and drop offs and through some tight fir tree woods before crossing the tarmac drive and making up the field and starting the big 70 acre woods that consist of step climbs and descents nice trails between the trees stream climbs and descents twisty 4 wheel drive safari tracks this really has everything for the Hare and Hounds racer that's up for the challenge CTR built a great course.
So at 10.45 and as the mood was set and the bikes and their masters were all line up on the start line and with a brief chat and as 11am clicked over the start flag dropped to set the class's away and with the Expert class away it was between Jack Powell, James Paczynski, Tommy Francombe and Josh Gotts fitting for the lead with Gotts getting the upper hand until the 2nd hard loop when he dropped it leaving the others to punch, Next let lose was the Vets class and with Ryan Leary getting away 1st to lead into the woods, With the clubman class all sat there patiently CTR dropped the flag for them to attack the race track with the holeshot was Nicky Jones with the rest of the class upfront ready to commence the battle, The novice class all quietly waiting to charge CTR dropped the flag and set them off and as they charged some 150 meters down the straight it was Brad Copeland once again leading the way and grabbing the hole shot.

As the start area fell quite all eyes was on the woods to the right of lap scoring and with the noise of a small 2 stroke engine busy into view it was young Jack Powell from Pontypool who came into sight leading lap 1 closely chase by James Paczynski, Tom Smith, Scott Meredith with Josh Gotts some 34 seconds later giving himself lots of work to do, 1st non Expert class rider into lap scoring was Vets class rider Gary Newman with Vets Expert riders Ryan Leary, Dai Beer and Adrian Evans close behind, Next through was Clubman rider Mike Bearsley, Nicky Jones and Gareth Berezinski with the rest of the Clubman pack pushing hard behind, Next group battle through was the Novice class with Nathan Newman leading and Brad Copeland, Phil Ball not far behind.

As the race progressed and with drop outs and DNF with Scott Meredith pulling out with a busted radiator Mike Bearsley with a broken chain Phil Ball's bike lost its spark, The battle of the top spots continued and on lap 2 Gotts got into the lead and put in consistent fast lap after lap on his beautiful TM 125 and managed the race with great finesse, Powell must have made a mistake as he was now in 3rd and Smith had moved into 2nd with CTR regular top gun Paczynski now in 4th and the rest of the Experts fighting with each other and the race course trying not to falter as they knew they would be swallowed up by the pack, With no more mistakes the race was set and with the top 3 riders really putting it on they managed to stay that way all way to the finish all 1 lap up on the rest with an impressive 15 laps.
In the other groups Vets expert class win went to Mr consistent Ryan Leary on 13 laps with Mr Smooth Dai Beer finishing 9 minutes later on 13 laps with fellow team member Mr Smooth Adrian Evans coming home 3rd also on 13laps, The Vets class winner was Garry Newman and with only 2 from the class getting to the finish 2 went to a well-deserved Mike Crumb coming back from injury and I spotted doing the 2nd hard loop every time well done, In the supper competitive Clubman class the top spots went to eventual winner Rhys Perkins who was last off the start line because he was looking at the beauty of the hall lol !!, on a commendable 13 laps 2nd place was Cornish Richard Holmes with 13 laps with 3rd going to Craig Thomas also on 13 laps, The Novice class battle was won by an extra lap by son of Gary Nathan Newman the next top spots went to Neil Davies TM 250 and Brad Copeland both on an impressive 12 laps well done to all and all competitor's.
