Davide Gozzini Wins New Zealand Supermotard Championship  (Mar 30, 2010)

Italian sensation, Davide 'Gozzo' Gozzini mounted on a TM 450 SMX machine writes himself into the history books at the famous Wanganui Cemetery Circuit. A prestigious event first run in 1951 and this year forming the jewel event in the Suzuki International Tri Series.

TM rider Gozzini and his fellow countryman Lazzarini stunned a massive Wanganui crowd with a display of riding never seen before at the 'cemetery', an on form Gozzo dominating both Tri-Series events and then clean sweeping the Wanganui races, earning himself the title of 'Speedy Gozzini' with the New Zealand fans.

Initially reported by the local media as riding his FactoryTM 660 SMX Gozzo was in fact on a stock TM 450 SMX fitted with his personal suspension, a fact that stunned the fans further was then realizing that Gozzini was posting lap records of .900th of a second slower than the 1000cc superbikes, these bikes being over twice the capacity of the 'little' TM rocket !.

The friendly Italian is growing a huge fan-base and now has three national titles to his credit this season, Italy, Australia and now New Zealand, Gozzo will now rest for a short while in preparation for his assault on the 2010 World Supermotard Championship where he will ride the new TM 450 Efi SMX.
