The Hicks Hatrick !  (Jul 12, 2011)

TM UK Cobra youth squad rider, Archie 'the Hurricane' Hicks, took time out from his new-found Motocross schedule to return to the British IOPD Youth Enduro Championships, that he has dominated for the past few seasons, and came away with the spoils once more.

Young Archie's saturday did not get off to a great start after his Cobra CX65 machine refused to fire into life on the start, however after a few more kicks she was singing into and Archie was away, albeit at the back of the pack with work to do. 'The Hurricane' got his head down and sliced through field finding himself in third place after the first lap, still pushing hard Archie had several big crashes that twisted the front end of his machine but neverthless he ended the 65cc event in second place just 58 seconds shy of the win to pick up the silver. The same day also witnessed Archie competing in the 85cc class on a TM 85 machine where he battled hard on the 'big bike' to finish in 8th place.

Day two of the event saw Archie off to a flying start and heading off into the distance on his Cobra machine, such was his lead during the race that he was even able to stop for a mid-race drink and still go on to win the Gold with ease. In the 85cc class Archie upped his position from Saturday and finished in 6th place.

The third trophy was claimed by a very jubilent Matt Hicks, Archies father, in the Adult race gategory. Matt piloted a TM 125 MX machine to the class victory and in doing so won himself the trophy. Matt could not believe the abilities of the nimble little TM 125 machine and was blown away by it's performance, Matt also later went on to confess that..." it's the first time I've won a trophy in years", we have our suspicions that it is probably the first trophy he's won...ever!!

Well done Archie and well done Dad.
