Christian Lyth - Wroxton  (Jun 2, 2011)

Despite the MX track at Wroxton near Banbury being a new experience for Sleaford MX rider Christian Lyth he was quick to learn his way around the course and ended the weekend in an overall position of fifth.

Riding the TM125cc machine Christian began to learn the hilly circuit that also has a couple of big table top jumps. Training went well on Saturday morning with Christian posting some good lap times and he was looking forward to a good set of races over the weekend.

The first race was a tough test for the 17 year old rider as he was still to find the fastest lines but he got away to a good start and moved through the pack to cross the finish line in eighth position.

Having learnt some of the faster lines in race one Christian’s performance in the second encounter was vastly improved and he managed to take the chequered flag in fifth position.

In the third race on Saturday Christian felt really confident and soon moved into fourth place. His lap times were getting faster and faster with each outing but as he closed in on the third placed rider a backmarker incident forced him back into the clutches of the two riders behind him and he eventually finished in sixth place.

On Sunday the fourth race went well for Christian who was sixth on the first lap before quickly moving through to fifth. He had a good battle with the rider ahead and finally overhauled him to take the chequered flag in fourth place.

He got away to another good start in race five and was one of five riders at the front who pulled away from the pack. He chased down the fourth placed rider and after some fantastic dicing and bar banging he once again made it through to fourth place. His lap times were good and he had third place in his sight but a backmarker fell in front of him so he had to be content with fourth place.

The next outing is at Whitby in the Red Bull Pro Nationals where Christian will be hoping to score championship points on his 250TM as well as the 125TM.
