TM UK's latest team member, Chas Statt, the likeable young lad from Leicestershire, continues to impress competiting on his 2011 TM Racing 125cc MX machine.
Chas, who not only competes in the Red Bull 125cc 2 stroke championship where, in 2010, he took the honour of being crowned Junior Champion and now currently sits in 7th place in the 2011 Expert standings, also does battle in the Wulfsport British Master series. Chas competes in the highly compeitive Amatuer MX2 class at the 'Masters', a class where he must pitch his TM 125cc 2-stroke machine against a near complete field of 250cc 4-stroke machinery and has proven to all that TM Racing's 'little' 2-stroke machine combined with his talent is by far a match for any of the double capacity 4-stroke machines, consistently running at the sharp end of the field and even taking a race win at round two of the Series at Pontrilas.
Round 3 of the Wulfsport British Masters series took place this past weekend at the Skelder Bank circuit overlooking the famous coastal town of Whitby. Whilst the remainder of the TM UK team were on duty in Ireland Chas was the sole TM UK representative at this event and he flew the TM flag in our absence. Once more Chas took his TM 125cc machine by the scruff and went into action qualifying 4th in the mornings timed session, this gave Chas a good gate pick for the scheduled 4 race/2-day program but sadly for Chas his first race encounter would not be so fruitful, Chas was collected by another rider and went down hard not only damaging his handlebars and controls but also hurting his wrist forcing him to withdraw from the first moto. After some repairs by his mechanic and father, Rob, Chas then went on to finish the next three heats with a 2nd place, a 4th place and a 3rd place, this gave Chas 8th overall for the weekend after obviously being penalised by his first race no-score. Chas now sits in 7th place in the 2011 Championship standings and has a top three in his sights for the conclusion.
Well done Chas.
