Edmonds Crashes Hard But Battles On At The Odyssey  (Oct 25, 2010)

The first round of the 2010 Future West Supercross series took place this past weekend at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Ireland and TM's Stuart Edmonds was there competing in both the SX1 and SX2 categories.

With practice sessions taking place during the Saturday afternoon leading up to the main event the young Dublin lad had opted to ride TM racing's incredible 250Fi machine in both classes, on the tight and demanding track that was cutting up quite badly at times it was definately the correct choice and Stuart posted the 2nd fastest time in his last practice heat.

In the first of the evening qualifiers Stuart was battling hard to maintain a top 5 placing that would see him go straight through to the main SX2 event, however it was not to be as an error saw him come up short and bury the front wheel of the TM into the next jump, with the machine stopping violently Stuart was ejected over the bars and into the ground hard, very hard and then only to be hit with his own machine as it came to rest. Stuart took a moment to pick himself up, he remounted his battered machine and circulated round the track into retirement.

With frantic work taking place in the pits to repair the damage to the TM's sub-frame and exhaust system Stuart was soon back on track for the next qualifier only for a similar crash to once again put him out of contention for qualifying straight through in SX1. This second spill had pretty much finished the night for Stuart as the falls took their toll on his body, with jarred thumbs, bruised legs, aches and a throbbing head Stuart was then forced to fight for a place in the finals by way of the 'last chance' races. Coming home 4th in the SX2 LCQ Stuart had put himself into the main SX2 event, however running over a berm in the SX1 LCQ cost him dear as he lost time on his rivals that would be impossible to make up in a '4 lap dash' and SX1 was over for the night.

With only the SX2 final now to contest a battered and bruised Stuart and took to the line for his last race with the intention of just getting to the chequered flag in one piece, finishing the 15 lap final in 9th place Stuart ended a difficult night for all with the consolation of finshing ahead of fellow Irishman Wayne Garrett.
