The TM mounted duo of Stuart Edmonds, Open 2 Stroke Championship Class on a 250cc TM, and Jim Davies the reigning 125cc champion, in the 125cc 2 Stroke Championship Class on his TM, both claimed their overall class victories at the penultimate round of the Red Bull / Fuchs Silkolene 2 Stroke Championships this weekend at Foxhill Moto Parc in Wiltshire.
Stuart showed his incredible talent on Saturday on the dry and dusty foxhill circuit delighting the crowds as he manouvered the sweet handling 250cc TM around the many twists and turns riding from holeshot to chequered flag in the first two motos and battling hard in the final race to take himself to a 1 - 1 - 3 scorecard, this secured Stuart the overall victory ahead of Mark Eastwood and Daniel Arnold. Stuart now sits in second place in the overall championship standings.
Likewise Jim Davies, the current 125cc champion, showed incredible form on Sunday, albeit in less than perfect conditions as the rain left the track super slippery. Taking the lead in the first two races, after a few clever moves in the early laps, Jim found his groove and settled down to take the first two victories, race three saw Jim battle early on in vain and using his head took a comfortable third place to take the overall for the day, furthermore this also allowed Jim to gain some valuable points on the series leader as he sits in second place in the championship standings with one round remaining. Jim also competes in the Open class on Saturday and finished the three races with a 6 - 4 - 6 scorecard giving him 6th overall, he now lies 9th in the Open class championship standings.
Fellow Tm riders Ryan Pottenger and Christian Lyth had their ups and downs today in the 125cc class, Ryan who has only recently returned back to competitive racing after a broken collarbone took a few tumbles which only aggravated his injury, however he went on to finish 6 - 6 - 6 in the Expert class, Ryan now sits 5th in the 125cc championship. Young Christian took a 6th place finish in the first race in the Junior class but DNF'd the second race with an electrical problem, race three saw him take 7th in the junior class, Christian now sits in the top ten of the Junior class.
TM UK manager Michael Woodsworth commented..."What a weekend for TM and it's incredible 2 stroke machines, Stuart had the 250 lit-up on Saturday and really showed the crowds what he is capable of, the bike was strong and Stuart looked so comfortable on it. Jim once again showed the pure grit and determination we have all become used to, Jim's a fighter and he wants results, he always gives 110%, even when battered, bruised and broken he still give it his all, time and time again he has shown that he is as fit as they come and he has the pace, its just a shame that injuries have hampered his title campaign a little this year, a well deserved victory for three solid rides."
Many thanks to all of our sponsors and supporters and a big thank you to Team Pottenger (Big Gary), Steve Knight from Kleenrite and to all of the mechanics and helpers.
Also...following an horrendous looking crash which saw the last 125cc race red flagged, we would like to send our wishes to Chas Statt, the Junior 125 champion, who sustained a broken leg in the incident, all the best mate.
