                           The 2012 "King" Cobra

In addition to a host of changes shared with the Junior version the 'King' features....

  • Revolutionary MXT front fork - Cobra's new Velocity Sensitive Traction Control fork will revolutionize the competition mini cycle market. Our exclusive 30mm USD architecture is designed exclusively for the 50cc application...it's not just a shortened version of a fork meant for a larger bike!, Furthermore its action is very supple over small bumps, yet the fork is highly progressive for excellent control through the biggest of hits. Couple these improvements in damping with drastically reduced friction, and lap times will drop!

  • Patented Cobra Friction Drive® - no one else has anything close. Cobra's all new CFD design is much easier to maintain, and it offers reduced gear drag and lower rotating inertia. Of course, the benefits of a well-protected driveline and improved traction and suspension action are retained from our previous design.

  • CARD piggyback rear shock with adjustable rebound, adjustable high speed compression, and adjustable low speed compression - more features than most of the big bike shocks!

  • The King Cobra's world-class engine features an improved exhaust port, reduced friction, V-force reeds, and a transmission gear set designed for the world's toughest competition.

  • Class-leading twin spar high strength low alloy oval tube frame - super-strong, outstanding lateral strength with just the right amount of torsional rigidity.
  •
  • New super-protective fork guards.

  • Largest air box in its class with a 'real' air filter featuring the largest filter surface area that is vertically mounted for optimal engine protection and maximum power.

  • Improved Steering Head - All-new sealed steering head design improves bearing life and improves steering performance.

  • Highly-tuned off-plane stamped pipe equals to more power, more ground clearance and less prone to damage.

  • Cobra exclusive 2012 'Mag' wheels are lighter weight, stronger and, as always, maintenance-free! The new rear wheel is over 25% lighter than last year.

  • Billet triple clamps with adjustable bar mounts.

  • Scott soft compound grips.

  • Dunlop MX51 rubber.

A Little History Of The 'King'.....

The heritage of the 'King 50' is simply unmatched. From Davi Millsaps' back-to-back championships in the mid-1990s, to filling the top twenty-four places at this year's AMA national championships, to sweeping the podium at the 2009 MX Master Kids in Belgium, no other 50cc racing motorcycle offers this level of proven performance. To top it off, Cobra is not resting on its laurels for 2010. Enter the completely redesigned 2010 King 50. All new twin-spar chassis.. All new super slick ergonomics.. All new eye-popping looks. Cobra has raised the bar once again with the motorcycle that pros like Millsaps, Izzy, Canard, Stroupe, and Bowers credit with creating the 'Cobra Generation'. Let’s take a closer look.

1) For years, Cobra has been way ahead of the competition with its 30mm USD cartridge fork. Cobra has made the same technology that is on full size bike available to the little guys and girls. The result: more control, smoother ride over rough track surfaces, and improved chassis stability.

2) Mag wheels are as tough as they come.. no spokes to worry about and they're lighter!

3) The Cobra 50cc powerplant is the best in the business.. split-port exhaust, tuned pipe, real air filter and air box that doesn't allow dirt to drop in and get entrained into the engine, and to top it off, Cobra's 3-G (3rd generation) clutch that is both reliable and hooks up better than any of its competitors. In 2010, the King 50 engine receives a bigger airbox and new pipe for more power and torque, and the angle of the inlet has been straightened out to help the carburetor jet more cleanly and to give airflow a straighter shot into the cylinder. The result? More controlled power for better starts and lower lap times!

4) The all-new oval tube High Strength Low Alloy twin spar frame which first appeared in 2010 is a smaller version of its big brother found on the CX65. This architecture is laterally very stiff, but allows for the right amount of torsional flex so the bike behaves well over bumps and flows through rutted corners at the same time.

5) For over a decade, the King 50 has exhibited a boxy look that was loved by some and tolerated by most. In 2010 King 50's new bodywork was radically updated and modernized. Most importantly, it shares many ergonomic features with its big brother, the CX65, so that transitioning back and forth between both bikes will be seamless, in 2012 new rad scoops feature to make this machine even more appealing to the eye and with functionality too.

6) As expected, the rear suspension is best in class as well. The piggy-back shock is adjustable both in compression and rebound, and it has a nitrogen charged reservoir to maintain consistent performance throughout the entire length of a moto.

7) Top all that off with quality Scott grips and Dunlop tires, and you have an unbeatable package, 90% of the competition at Loretta Lynn's can't be wrong !!
